Duke CIVICs Clinical Core PI Profile: Chip Walter

We interviewed the Principal Investigators (PIs) responsible for leading each of the CIVICs Centers as part of a two-part interview series. In the first part of each interview, we focused on learning a little bit more about the Center PIs, and in the second part, we asked each PI to introduce us to their Center.

In this article, we interviewed the PI for the Duke CIVICs Clinical Core, Emmanuel (Chip) Walter, MD, MPH at the Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI). 

What is one thing on your Bucket List?

I have always wanted to go Zip lining in Costa Rica.  

What is your favorite thing to do around town?

My favorite thing to do around North Carolina is to go hiking on all the different trails.

Are you a morning person or a night person?

I am a morning person. 

What was your childhood dream job?

As a kid, I wanted to be a farmer.

Who is your favorite film director?

I enjoy Steven Spielberg’s movies [Author’s note: as does CIVICs Core PI, Dr. Tom Denny]
